Beta club constitution

The National Honorary Beta Club Constitution

 

ARTICLE I. NAME AND PURPOSE

Section 1.     The name of the organization established by this Constitution shall be The                   National Honorary Beta Club

Section 2.    The purposes of the National Beta Club shall be:

  1. To promote ideals of honesty, service, morality, ethical conduct, and leadership among Ardrey Kell Students.

  2. To encourage students to actively participate in improving the community.

  3. To reward meritorious academic achievement.

  4. To encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school.

 

ARTICLE II. STUDENT RIGHTS

Section 1.    All club members have the right to express their opinions.

Section 2.    Members have the right to actively participate in all activities/opportunities  provided by the club.

 

ARTICLE III.  REQUIREMENTS

  • Members must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.2 and a weighted GPA of 3.8. For the class of 2018, members must have an unweighted GPA of 3.2 and a weighted GPA of 4.2.

  • First semester attendance will be taken into account when selecting members of Beta Club.

  • Members must pay a $20.00 fee to cover the cost of seals, pins and certificates. Additional costs will be included for optional items (i.e. T-shirts).

  • Completion of the application process (includes an essay)

  • Members cannot miss over 3 meetings for the duration of the school year.

  • Members must complete at least 20 hours of community service by the beginning of the next school year.

 

ARTICLE IV. POWER AND AUTHORITY

The duties/responsibilities for each officer are:

  • President: The president of The National Honorary Beta Club shall be responsible for general supervision of the organization and shall, in cooperation with the school principal and the club advisor, determine all policies and general activities of the Club. The president shall preside at all meetings, shall appoint all committees of the club, and shall assure that the local chapter is properly represented at all interclub meetings and conventions.

 

  • Secretary: The secretary shall keep all records of the Beta Club, keep minutes of all meetings, and carry on all correspondence of the club.

 

  • Treasurer: The treasurer shall have general charge of the finances of the club, collect all fees, and pay approved bills. All financial transactions shall be consistent with the policies of Ardrey Kell High School. Furthermore, the treasurer shall make a full statement of the financial condition of the local club at the last regular meeting of the school year, at which time the treasurer shall turn over all money and financial records to the incoming treasurer.

 

  • ICC Representative: The ICC Representative shall represent our club in the ICC meetings held at the school. They are responsible for relaying information from the meetings to the officers of the club.  

 

Elections:

  • Club officer applications shall be used to determine any open officer positions. For the 2018-2019 academic year, officers will be determined in September and following years will be determined in the last week of May.


 

ARTICLE VI. MEETINGS

Section 1. Beta Club will hold meetings on the last Tuesday of every month.

 

ARTICLE VII. AMENDMENTS

Section 1. This constitution may be amended by the club officers and club advisor. The process is as follows:

  1. Proposed changes to this constitution must be presented to the members of the club and its officers so that it might provide feedback and suggestions.
